What Is DELF — and Why Does It Matter?
DELF (Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française) is an official French language diploma issued by the French Ministry of Education. It's recognised worldwide and never expires.
You need DELF if you:
- Are applying to French, European, or Francophone universities (many require B1 or B2)
- Are applying for French nationality (B1 is mandatory)
- Want a credential that proves your French ability to employers internationally
- Are planning to study at a grande école and need to demonstrate language proficiency
- Want something concrete on your CV that goes beyond "conversational French"
Without DELF, your French ability is self-reported. With it, it's certified.
Why Prepare with DFG Instead of Going It Alone?
DELF isn't a school exam. The format is specific, the timing is tight, and the oral component catches most self-study candidates off guard. Students who prepare with a structured course consistently outperform those who don't — not because they know more French, but because they know how the exam works.
Here's what DFG's DELF preparation includes:
- DELF-approved textbooks combined with supplementary materials
- Structured grammar teaching mapped to each DELF level
- Continuous speaking practice — including mock oral exams with timed responses
- Regular listening exercises using authentic French audio
- Written production drills in the exact formats DELF examiners expect
- Full mock tests under exam conditions, with detailed feedback
What makes this different: I don't just teach French and hope it maps to the DELF format. Every session is reverse-engineered from the exam — what they test, how they score, and where students typically lose marks.

Not Sure Which Level You Are?
It's common to misjudge your own level — most people overestimate their grammar and underestimate their speaking. Tell me a bit about your French background and I'll recommend the right starting point.
